Survey about a Section VIII South Pacific Strategy
The islands of the South Pacific and PNG and Timor L’este fall within the geographic region of Section VIII of ICD. Section VIII has a long history of support and Fellowship in Fiji. In recent years, our Section has increased its support for oral health programs in Fiji and other South Pacific Islands, in PNG and in Timor L’este. And we are proud to have welcomed the first ICD Fellows from Timor L’este, PNG and Tonga over the past few years.
The Board of Section VIII now wishes to develop a more substantial and sustainable strategy for these underserved countries within our region. The strategy aims to improve oral health and dental services in the South Pacific, PNG and Timor L’este by encouraging volunteerism and fostering collaboration amongst our Fellows working in these countries, as well as enhancing financial support through ICD grants and cooperation with other funding organisations. The Board also wishes to recognise dedicated dentists living and working in these countries through ICD Fellowships.
As a first step towards developing a strategy, we are asking all Section VIII Fellows to complete this brief survey. The results of the survey will be published in the next edition of the Section VIII newsletter. Please complete the survey by Monday, April 27.
