Project Title:  PNG Dental School & Dental Association

Picture
Project Description
The Dental School in Papua New Guinea was established in 1998 and has trained over 100 dentists largely through the efforts of visiting academics and dentists from Australia coordinated by Prof John McIntyre AM of the University of Adelaide.  The 2017 Section VIII ICD grant supported a visit by A/Prof Len Crocombe to conduct staff development at the PNG Dental School and to assist with development of a viable Dental Association. Len is currently actively involved with mentoring some of the top PNG graduates and helping them develop public health research projects which are critical in the planning of future oral health services in PNG.  The 2018 ICD grant will assist with travel costs for Prof John McIntyre AM to return to PNG for a conference.
